Biking for Cancer

My first day fundraising!

I enrolled in Viva Bike Vegas and set up my facebook and fundraising page yesterday. And guess what? I managed to achieve 21% of my fundraising goal in one day!

I always knew cancer affected lives, it has affected not only my life, but the lives of a lot of my friends and family. Seeing the pain around you, can make you want to help. I guess thats where lies the secret in my first day success.

I hope this is not a one-day wonder, and the support keeps coming in. For those of you who wonder how the money you donate will be used, here is a summary:

-A donation of $25 provides patients and their loved ones with FREE booklets that contain up-to-date information on their disease and help them make informed decisions about their treatment options.

-A donation of $50 makes possible a Family Support group with a trained facilitator where comfort can be found and experiences can be shared among patients and family members.

-A donation of $100 helps supply laboratory researchers with supplies and materials critical to carrying out their search for cures.

-A donation of $1,000 makes possible one-on-one conversations with health care specialists who provide patients with information about their disease, treatment options, and helps prepare them with questions for their health care team.

Please remember that every dollar makes a difference. Even if you wish to donate $5, please do so. Please forward the links to your friends and family, and like them on facebook. These patients need your support to help them get through what is an extremely difficult time.

About Indian Pixie

A wannabe writer, a music lover, a geek, a dancer... and a voracious reader!! I don't really fit into any one category and find it really hard to define myself. Moved out of my comfort zone 2 years ago, and into the arm's of country on the other side of the world. Everything changed for me, from what I love doing most and my priorities, to the way I see myself. I am writing this blog, to document all of the crazy thoughts that come to mind, as I experience this amazing transition from my loved home country to another totally new and different country. Join me in experiencing the change.
