Biking for Cancer, Health

Achievement unlocked!!

I know I haven’t written in a while, I have been focusing on being injury free, and was a little low. You see, I rest too much on my arms when I ride, so instead of my legs, it is my hands which hurt. And they hurt really really bad.  So instead of riding all 5 days when I was off, I rode for 2 days and took 3 days off!!

I was ashamed at taking time off, and didn’t know what to write. But on Tuesday morning, I unlocked the achievement of my lifetime! Not only did I ride 17 miles in the park, but of these, about 7 miles were tough hills!

The first time I took the hill, it was really hard. One of my team members recognized me (I had lost them in the park), because of my ragged breathing. And I had to stop because I thought I would throw up.

But then, I met my coach (Joyce) who taught me how to change gears. And it was so much easier after that. I actually did 2 repeats of the same hill. It was hard, but I could breathe – and feel the focus on my legs instead of my breathing.

I am so happy at having unlocked this achievement – never thought I could do it.

Continued goal? Riding without stressing my arms

New goal? Not yet – need to get my arms off the handle and relax my upper body first.

Wish me luck with my riding – do comment, do share my story, and yes, please donate. I am riding to raise money to help find a cure for cancer. This is a disease that affects a majority of our population. And this is your chance to make a difference…Please click here to make a difference – donate.

About Indian Pixie

A wannabe writer, a music lover, a geek, a dancer... and a voracious reader!! I don't really fit into any one category and find it really hard to define myself. Moved out of my comfort zone 2 years ago, and into the arm's of country on the other side of the world. Everything changed for me, from what I love doing most and my priorities, to the way I see myself. I am writing this blog, to document all of the crazy thoughts that come to mind, as I experience this amazing transition from my loved home country to another totally new and different country. Join me in experiencing the change.
